- Mat made of a round tough rush resembling wicker rods laid close together crossways, being kept in their position by sixteen cords running lengthways at about 3.5 inches apart, each rush being split for the cords to pass through, the cords not being visible but at the two ends of the matting. Each rod is darker at one end than at the other and have been laid accordingly to give a striped pattern. [JFK 25/10/2017]
