Long description
Standard military fife made of dark wood with 'German silver' ferules and a single brass key. The key is cracked by its touch and above the pin.[HLR 30/08/2006]

Nothing is known of this fife maker except it seems likely that he is the person listed in the 1901 census as Q. Cecconi, aged 62 born in Malta [British subject] and living in Portsmouth, a musical instrument maker. Because I could not access the complete census record I do not know what the Q stands for [Alison Petch [as part of 'The Other Within' project 2006-9] 25/04/2007]
