- Research and responses
Julian Goodacre, a bagpipe maker, and Michael York, an instrument maker, examined this object during the International Bagpipe Day at the Pitt Rivers Museum on 9 March 2013. Goodacre noted 'technically this could be termed a "bladder pipe", not a bagpipe, as the air pressure is generated by the elasticity of the bladder (the pressure on bagpipes is produced by squeezing your arm/ elbow). York pointed out the smallest of the two holes (mentioned in the old display label) appears to be a repair to a hole in the bladder (for Goodacre's and York's notes see the related documents file).
