- Description
- Ladle made from a gourd split down the middle, with incised and coloured (?burnt) designs. [LM 'DCF 2004-2006 What's Upstairs?' 8/3/2006]
- Long description
- The ladle is decorated on the bowl and handle on both the back and front. On the back, the design consists of a v-shape incised on the handle, narrowing to a point at the tip, which is intersected by three curved lines and a zig-zag pattern at the end. The design on the bowl consists of a central square, with incised zig-zags and cross-hatching, with rough rectangles incised opposite each side, which also contain zig-zags. The designs on the front consist of a wavy line up the handle, with incised parallel lines at the side and a section of incised parallel lines at the tip. The circumference of the bowl is covered in dark brown pigment, and inside is a design of ellipses, spirals and curved lines. All the designs are coloured in using some form of brown pigment.
