Small cloth, of the type used to hold coca leaves or food
Long description
Small cloth, of the type used to hold coca leaves or food; used in ritual offerings to the earth or other deities (Meisch 1997:144). A single complete four-selvage textile. Ground is warp-faced plain weave with warps in natural grey and shades of red and pink, giving a flecked effect. There are 7 bands of complementary warp and derived float weave decoration, flanked by plain warp stripes. The weft is grey. Possibly natural dyes. Old specimen in poor condition. Warp spin Z2S; weft Z2S; warp count 72 epi (29/cm); weft count 19 ppi (8/cm).
