- Long description
- Smooth bore breech-loading walking stick gun with a detachable stock. The weapon has a .410 inch calibre. The wooden stock can be fixed into a hole in the top of the wooden handle. Below the handle is a long metal barrel - the stick part of the gun which is in two sections. This has been painted dark brown. The trigger is located on the stick part of the cane just beneath the handle. If held in the hand as a walking stick there is a safety catch to the left of the trigger. The barrel is unrifled. To load and cock the weapon the two sections of the barrel are twisted apart which opens a chamber with a central firing pin. The sections are then twisted together again. This weapon would be used with a centre fire cartridge. There is a proof mark in the cartridge chamber. There is no rubber ferrule at the end of the barrel which would have protected the muzzle of the weapon when not in use. [MdeA 12 3 1998]
