- Long description
- Single shot 'Harper Classic' walking stick gun with a duck's head handle. The gun is breech-loading and has a smooth bore. If held as a walking stick the weapon consists of (from top to bottom) a wooden handle in the shape of a duck's head. Below this is a section of brass 73mm long with a concealed trigger. Below this is a long unrifled barrel covered with wood veneer which is the stick part of the walking stick. This part has '17526' written on it in black. At the base of the stick is a band of brass and a rubber ferrel which protects the muzzle of the weapon when not in use. The weapon was used with a pellet of some sort. It is loaded by unscrewing the brass section from the barrel/stick section and putting a pellet it and then screwing it up again. The weapon is cocked by unscrewing the duck's head and pulling it away from the stick. This causes the concealed trigger to appear from the brass section of the weapon. The serial number of the weapon is 00112 and it is inscribed on the brass section between the duck's head and the brass. It is visible when the weapon is cocked. It is inscribed in the same place with 'PAT. PEND'. [MdeA 11 3 1998]
