A peregrine falcon stands on the head of a desert hare in a patch of disturbed sand. One of the falcon's talons stands on the hare's ear, the other on its neck. The rabbit lies on the left, its legs stretched out across the sand. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.2004.130.22177.1
