View of a Bedouin man in Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking in the Ramlat ar Rabbad sands. In the foreground a man leads a line of camels across an area of mostly flat sand, heading towards the far distance. A few small trees and clumps of vegetation grow in the sand. In the far background a large dune rises in the distance.

Research and responses

Research Notes - 'Five days after Huwaishil's departure, the elders of the Muqairida required us to leave by the following afternoon.... We therefore decided to travel slowly westwards into the sands hoping that Huwaishil would overtake us.... Huwaishil joined us on February 5, two days after we had arrived in the Rabadh. We were delayed a further two days in the Rabadh by another bitter northerly gale with showers of rain, but arrived in the wadi al ‘Ain on February 12.'
