Description
Tibetan eye-shade.
Long description
Tibetan eye-shade, worn by older men or women. Two long panels of black cotton form the sides, stitched together at the back. These are bridged by a third panel, which forms the top. The three panels are lined with a single piece of beige cloth, with dowel rods sewn into the sides and the intersection of the panels to provide structure. It is worn horizontally on the head, with a forward jutting canopy extending over the face. Reinforcement and simple decoration is provided by round-ended rectangular pieces of red cloth, stitched over the ends of each dowel rod and between the back ends of the two outer rods.
