Chris Gosden Curator of Archaeology at the Pitt Rivers Museum looked at this object on 22nd May 1998. This particular flake is a good example showing signs of use along the blade. It also has a clearly visible point of impact and bulb of percussion, from when it was flaked from the core He also noted that in his experience obsidian flakes are usually only used on the human body, for shaving etc., although they may on occassion be used for shaping spears.
