Description
Wooden model boat with a single textile sail and four carved figures [ZM 16/10/2015]
Long description
Wooden model boat with a single textile sail positioned towards the bow. There are four carved male figures - one positioned stood on the deck in front of the mast; another sat on top of the cabin; one stood half way along the boat on the port side holding an oar or pole, likewise on the starboard side. The underside of the boat is fairly flat curving upwards at each end. There is no keel suggesting this is a river boat intended to be able to travel in shallow water. There is a curved roof over the cabin area often used to store cargo on this style of boat, like bags of rice. The model consists of the hull, with attached sail and figures, [.1] and a detached paddle [.2] probably originally held by the figure standing at the bow. [ZM 17/3/2016]
