- Long description
- Girl's gala stole of indigo cloth with fringes of cylindrical glass beads; worn over the shoulders with the ends hanging over the breasts; worn with gala petticoat 1923.13.8. Rectangular piece of cloth fringed on all four sides with long cylindrical clear glass beads. Each of the cylindrical beads has smaller white and beige round beads at each end and a projecting tuft of maroon threads. There is also a band of the same beading down the longer central axis. The overall appearance of the cloth is black (possibly originally a very dark blue). There are also thin bands of yellow and maroon woven cotton adjacent to the beading and more decorative band of maroon, black and white diamond-shaped patterning at the two short ends. JN 1997
