(JN 1997) - Rectangular length of cloth with a cream ground and multicoloured bands of patterning. It is fringed at the two short ends. The cream cotton ground appears to be a plain weave. The horizontal bands of coloured abstract designs were probably created using supplementary cotton weft. The blue-coloured thread is possibly indigo-dyed.

Research and responses

The 'embroidery' referred to by the accession book and card catalogue entries is more likely to be supplementary weft. [SD 28/3/2000]

This is likely to be Shan from Burma or to be from another Tai group in Thailand. [SD 28/3/2000]
