According to L'encyclopedie de l'Afrique du Nord, 1830-1962 [http://encyclopedie.pieds-noirs.info], Ruperto (no other name is given) was the 'Directrice' of SPA, presumably referring to SPANA (Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad) at Touggourt, Algeria. [CM 01/02/2008]
