Long description
Folding fan [.1] boxed in a cardboard box [.2-.3]. The box lid is covered with a piece of fine paper with a central red stripe. There are two pieces of printed paper in the box [.4-.5]. The fan is signed. The guardsticks and feuntes are made of black dyed lengths of bamboo and are held together at the bottom with what appears to be a bamboo nail. The design inside is painted in black and grey ink, and the top edges of the fan and one of the upper most paper sides when folded is flecked with gold paint. The lid of the box is covered in fine paper with a red ringed stamp to the right of a column of three Japanese text symbols. There is a printed red strips across the middle and the ends of the box lid are both grey-green in colour. The interior of the box base has a cardboard support fixed across the middle into which the fan is placed. Of the two strips of paper, one is printed with Japanese text all in black ink [.4], the other [.5] has a bright vermillion background with white text symbols and a design showing a fan and woman's profile and her long black hair.
