Description
Bark painting with ochres in cross-hatching design with a piece of wood for support at both narrow ends. [ZM 4/6/2004]
Long description
Bark painting with ochres in cross-hatching design with a piece of wood for support at both narrow ends. It has been decorated with a central column of painted yellow footprints on a red background surrounded by white dots. There are two 'crabs' either side of a central shield/lozenge shape and 4 pairs of birds towards each corner of the painting. The rest of the background is filled in with geometric lattice, line and dot patterns. The colours used in this painting are red, yellow/orange, black and white. There are scorch marks on the reverse of the painting, possibly the result of the manufacturing process. [JFK 28/10/2008]
