- Long description
- Tinder pouch, roughly rectangular in shape with slightly curved edges. Constructed from a folded piece of leather with brass edging. This edging is decorated with damascened swirled pattern. The folded flap is elaborately decorated with an outer gold damascened border, inner silver repousse border with coral and turquoise studs, and three flower shaped mounts with central stones, the two outer ones being coral and the central one being ?cornelian surrounded by turquoise stones. A rectangular bar with swirled damascened pattern is attached to the top of the pouch, and has a moveable metal floral piece with a central turquoise stone which is attached to a loop and a length of twisted leather cord. A straight steel is attached to the bottom of the pouch. A pocket inside the pouch contains flint and tinder [1938.35.743 .2 - .3] [EH [OPS move] 10/8/2017]
