Research and responses

This object was examined by Drs Sue Hamilton, Ruth Whitehouse and M. Seager Thomas as part of the Fell funded project Characterizing the World Archaeology Collections. They described the material as a flaggy, intermediate non-vesicular lava from Rano Kau. They further note that although common to the west of the Island, this stone is rare in the collection.
