1998.355.440.1A black ox moving from right to left through rain-sodden grass. Based on the film number, the photograph was taken near Mancom village, the home of Evans-Pritchard's servant Tiop, and where he spent some 4 weeks in the middle of 1935 at the mouth of the Nyanding River among the Gaajok tribe. In contrast to his two earlier fieldwork visits when photographing cattle was viewed suspiciously by the Nuer, Evans-Pritchard took numerous record images of them during his later field trips.1998.355.440.1
1998.355.735.1A group of youths [blurred] sit in the shade of Evans-Pritchard's tent awning, with a rectilinear roofless structure just beyond, possibly a pen for Evans-Pritchard to keep his own small number of cattle at night. This image was taken at Yakwach village on the Sobat, which Evans-Pritchard revisited in 1935.1998.355.735.1
