Sitar of wood inlaid with bone or ivory. For the textile cover see 2020.14.1.2
Long description
Sitar with a long wooden neck and gourd resonator. The neck and body are inlaid with mother-of-pearl and bone or ivory with lac decoration. There are no strings remaining but there are seventeen wooden tuning pegs. At the top of the neck is a bone or ivory panel inscribed 'MAKHAN LAL ROY & SONS CALCUTTA'.
