Description
Paper wrapping in white paper spotted with red decorated with mizuhiki strings tied in a decorative knot. [FB 4/12/2019]
Long description
Paper wrapping in white paper spotted with red decorated with mizuhiki strings tied in a decorative knot. The strings are in crimson and white. Four Japanese characters in black ink are printed vertically down the centre of the wrapping on the front. Attached to the front of the wrapping in the top right hand corner is a representation of abalone in a small hexagonally shaped open envelope. This indicates to the recipient that the donor of the gift is free from the pollution associated with death, when it would be prohibited to use meat of any kind, although it has more commonly simply become a more customary symbol of a gift [FB 4/12/2019]
