- Research and responses
Printed textiles of this kind were manufactured in the ABC Wax factory in Manchester for export to the West African market. The design of the textiles was originally based on Indonesian batik prints which were introduced to West Africa during the second half of the 19th Century. From 2005, production of ABC textiles moved to Ghana, with the Manchester factory finally closing in 2007. [Information from www.abcwax.co.uk] [JMC 20/9/2019]
