- Long description
- Ball-headed club decorated with beads, part of man's Northern Plains style outfit. The club is most likely formed of a cylindrical wooden handle and spherical stone head, both of which have been covered in leather. A fringe of leather has been sewn to the butt of the club, and three more separate fringes, two of which have white and orange beads threaded on them, decorate the handle at regular intervals. The head itself and the neck just below are covered with white, orange, red, yellow and blue beads. Above the head the leather covering has been gathered into two tassels, from each of which two long leather strips extend. These are bound at the bottom with fringed leather and decorated with white and orange beads. For the rest of the outfit see shirt [2017.103.54 .1], leggings [2017.103.54 .2 - .3], necklace [2017.103.54 .5] and feather ornament [2017.103.54 .6]. [JMC 29/8/2019]

This object is part of a collection put together by English Hobbyist Raymond Wilkes. The collection combines English, European or North American-made hobbyist material, some objects made by Wilkes himself, and some Native American-made objects. This outfit is English-Made but in the style of a Northern Plains men's outfit. [JMC 19/8/2019]
