Long description
Pair of gilt earrings [.1 - .2]. The main part of each earring comprises an openwork dome on a filigree disc, with hollow cast spheres around the rim. From ten of these spheres hammered discs of gilt metal hang, connected by suspension rings. A blue bead is set into the top of the central dome, and two further discs hang from beneath this. At the top of the earring is a suspension loop with a hinge, formed from a piece of lead. Around this is looped a long piece of metal wire, which curves and forms the hook. [JMC 1/8/2019]
