- Conical woven hat, with wide brim worn by women. The hat consists of woven straw, forming a spiral. The end of the weaving has been tied off with yarn, with the straw ends sticking out loose from the tie. [AFS [OPS move] 5/8/2019]

In Indigo in the Arab World by Jenny Balfour-Paul, Curzon Press, 1997 p 137, jenny Balfour-Paul mentions that in the lowlands and the Wadi Hadhramaut 'broad-brimmed conical straw hats like witches' hats were, and still are, worn over the headcloth.' [AFS [OPS move] 6/8/2019]
