- Long description
- Indigo dyed head scarf / shawl, decorated at the shorter ends with blue and red embroidery, and shells. The embroidery consists of a stripe of blue, along which clusters of shells, and blue and red embroidery have been evenly spaces. The hem of the head scarf/shawl is decorated with a blue embroidered zigzag pattern, and a stripe of alternating red and blue braid, forming a chevron pattern. The shorter ends are fringed with knotted cotton in a variety of colours included purple, red, green and blue, each knot including a shell. There is a single silver stamp on the reverse, consisting of a crescent moon containing Arabic text, with further text and a star on the outside between the two points. The scarf / shawl consists of several pieces of textile sewn together. The longer lengths of the scarf / shawl have not been hemmed and are frayed in places. [AFS [OPS move] 2/8/2019]
