Description
Black velvet boot [COB 13/9/2018]
Long description
Black velvet boot with hard leather sole. Stitched with white string to uppers lined with white string. Seam around the base is turquoise dyed leather, scuffed in places. The seams are covered by dyed turquoise leather with one narrower piece of white leather on each side. There is a deep vent centre back. Vent is lined with red leather, which also lines the top of the boot. At the base of the vent there is a symmetrical abstract curled design, this is in red leather but covered by a more intricately cut turquoise leather shape, which has been stitched on top. Inner lining is blue cloth. [COB 13/9/2018]

Research and responses

This boot bear a resemblance to 19th century Chinese boots due to its being made of black velvet and the reinforcing of the front, back, and side seams using leather piping. [COB 13/9/2018]
