Long description
Wooden katsina doll, with stepped headress and textile clothing. There is a bunch of feathers at back of head, a bunch of parrot feathers in front hair and a feather on one side of the brow band. Two small pieces of down feather remain on top of wooden headdress. The doll has a necklace of shell beads. The face is painted. The doll has wooden lightening symbols tied to each hand. The top [sega?] and skirt [wagi?] of calico are painted in a geometric design. There is a loop of string tied round the neck. [MJD 20/08/2009]
