Research and responses

Loom model. Small pine frame with partially woven cloth of mountain goat hair. Fibre identified by Dr. Burnham of Royal Ontario Museum, 10.12.1963. NB The wooden object associated with this loom in the sketch in PR IV 109 and described as '?beater' has nothing to do with this loom - it is a mat creaser. No beaters were used with these looms; manipulation was by fingers and very occasionally on a border, a comb. [LM]
