Ambatch is a type of leguminous shrub found through many parts of Africa, including the Sudan; it to between 4 and 6 metres high and grows in river shallows, producing a very light, spongy wood that was often used for rafts and parry shields. 1942.13.1371.2Cast brass figure of a horse rider. He wears a turban and short, sleeveless tunic with incised cross-hatching. The left hand is cupped to grip the saddle and the right is raised to hold something, probably a lance, which is now missing. There are traces of copper coating. For horse see [1942.13.1371 .1].
