- Leaf, used for divination ceremonies. The leaf is incised with the cut out decoration of two parallel triangles near to the tip of the leaf with numerous circular perforations above this, possibly burnt into the surface. Ambatch is a type of leguminous shrub found through many parts of Africa, including the Sudan; it to between 4 and 6 metres high and grows in river shallows, producing a very light, spongy wood that was often used for rafts and parry shields. 1942.13.274.1Pipe bowl made of red pottery bowl in form of squatting human figure, part of a pipe on a plain wooden stem. the figure is modelled in high relief with hands clasped over knees and wearing an arched headdress. The headress is decorated with irregular square dots within a plain border. The surface of the pipe socket is decorated with a panel of crosshatching below a narrow band of incised lines and a plain band around the rim.
