Description
Club with stone head and covered in rawhide. With trade bead decoration. [SM 26/03/2007]
Long description
Club with stone head and covered in rawhide. With trade bead decoration. A single length of sapling is bent around the head and the ends have been rejoined below the head to form the handle. This has then been covered in rawhide and allowed to dry. The club is decorated with glass trade beads, porcupine quills, hair and metal cones. The head is decorated with red hair tassels and red binding o the raw hide around the stone. The beads are red, white and black on the head. There are blue and white beads around the centre of the shaft. The decoration on the head indicates that the club was used for ceremonial purposes. [SM 26/03/2007]
