- Lid for the reliquary box 1985.52.2023 .1. Made from textile and oval in shape. The box contains a saints' relics, Agnus Dei, and a figure framed behind glass. [ASh [OPS move] 30/1/2017]
- Long description
- Amulet, oval textile reliquary box [.1], containing saints' relics, Agnus Dei, and a figure framed behind glass, and a detachable lid [.2]. In the relic box [.1] there is a figure of the ?Virgin Mary in the centre, surrounded by scrolls of orange coloured paper with gold edges, and then four relics. Over the top of each relic there is a strip of paper; one has 'Agnus Dei' printed on it, another has 'Relique' written in ink on it, and the other two have saints' names written on them. This is all framed behind a panel of glass. The exterior of the box [.1] and the lid [.2] are covered in a different textile; the the box covered in a red ?silk brocade textile which is very worn in places, and the lid is covered in a woven cotton textile. Each is edged with copper alloy metal thread. [RB 02/07/2012]
