- Long description
- Amulet, oval-shaped silk brocade reliquary, with a base [.1] containing a figure of the Virgin Mary, textile relics and saint names, and a lid [.2]. The reliquary is oval-shaped with pointed ends. The outside of the base and lid are covered with a red and cream silk brocade with a textile a metal wire border. There is also a silk ribbon which would have joined the two halves together however the ribbon is broken so is only attached to the base. The inside of each half of the reliquary has a lined blue silk textile. The base has a layer of glass where beneath there is a figure of the Virgin Mary surrounded by scrolls of orange card with gold gilded edges. There are also four scrolls of paper inscribed in black ink with the following: "St Luc", "St Donat", "Ste Ursule", "St Arsene". Beneath each of the names is some cottonwool which has a fragment of textile glued to it. [ACA 02/05/2012]
