Research and responses

Teri Rofkar (Tlingit Tribe) and Luba Dovgan-Nurse examined this object during a research visit in November 2011. They made the following comments: The orangey colour is from alder bark, the black colour is fern and the light colour grass. The lid has a fern-frond pattern. The pattern on the side represents butterflies. The rattling noise is produced by seeds. This is quite an early example. [El.B 22/11/2011]
