Long description
Wooden box [.1] with lid [.2] for containing three Noh masks [see entries 2015.28.2-4]. The box and lid are tied closed with a purple ribbon that is attached through slots in the base of the box. The lid has an inscription on both sides in Japanese made using black ink. The inside of the lid also has a red stamped inscription. The box and lid appear to have been made as one cube with the lid then sawn off and an inner lining of wood added to make a lip that secures the lid onto the box when it is closed.
