- Research and responses
It is possible that this object was collected by EH Man. It is not stated in any of the primary sources which object [and where it was] the boat was modelled on. It was presumably used as example of a missing link in one of the series [AP Leverhulme project on founding collection 1995-1998]

1884.54.51.1Model boat. Carved from wood with the upper section of the boat made up of multiple sections of varnished, dark brown wood that has been stitched together. There are seven struts going across the boat horizontally giving it support, some of which have been bound using plant fibre. There are multiple strings hanging loose from the upper section, which would have secured the outrigger [1884.54.51 .2] to the boat. [ASh [OPS move] 10/10/2016]1884.54.51.1

There are four ribs in the centre of the boat attached to each side and one seat near to the end of the boat. There is an outrigger platform attached to the side of the boat, but the outrigger itself [1994.4.138 .2] has broken off of the main model. Also associated with this object is a paddle [1994.4.138 .3] and a canoe bailer [1994.4.138 .4]. [ASh [OPS move] 14/09/2016]1994.4.138.1
