Description
Fan of plaited cane strips. [LKG 01/09/2009]
Long description
Fan of plaited cane strips. The fan is of a golden-yellow hue with a distinct central section of seven rows of woven palm leaf each row approx. 20mm in height, apart from the the top two which are narrower. The outer edge of the fan is curved, and ends in sharply angled corners which lead down to the base of the fan and its handle. The handle is made of the gathered and bound ends of the plant material used to make the fan. These end strands are tied together in five places with dull brown plant fibre. The bindings at the far ends of the handle are wider than the others. [LKG 01/09/2009]
