Clay incense burner of undecorated redware (with mica in the fabric). This vessel is sat on a pedestal foot with a cup-like body which has been perforated with triangular openings. Description
Clay incense burner of undecorated redware (with mica in the fabric). This vessel is sat on a pedestal foot with a cup-like body which has been perforated with triangular openings. There is a handle which attaches the base with the shoulder of the vessel. This is part of the set that makes up 2009.49.1.
Long description
Clay incense burner [.1] with lid [.2]. The incense burner [.1] is made from an orange clay and has a handle attached from the base to the body. The central body of the incense burner has eight triangular notches cut out of it. The edge of the body of the burner has incised dashes along it for decoration. The incense burner has been used and has the remains of a wax candle inside. The lid [.2] for the burner is conical and has five triangular notches cut out of it and a pointed top. The inside of the lid is blackened through use. [FC 02/11/2009]
