The body of the whistle is painted red with a painted drawing of a bird in black, orange and green. The bottom of the whistle is white with a wooden tang with a single perforated hole. Research and responses

As part of the Sound and Music's Composer-in-Residence programme, Nathaniel Mann spent 18 months 'Embedded at the Pitt Rivers Museum and Oxford Contemporary Music. As part of his residency Nathaniel researched the pigeon whistles in the PRM collections and made his own pigeon whistle from recycled materials. He tried his whistle on pigeons and flew them in notable places in the UK.
