Please note that the Menton is in France whilst Grimaldi, situated 2 km to the East, is in Italy. It is not currently certain on which side of the border 'Grottes de Menton' are located. For more information on the Palaeolithic archaeology of Menton please see Richardson R and Scot R. 1903 'Primitive man, as revealed by recent researches in the caves near Mentone' Scottish Geographical Journal 19 (6): 281 — 291.
