Long description
Blouse, huipil, with central decoration of hand embroidery in red cotton. The huipil, has a round neck, made from three pieces of woven undyed cotton fabric, joined together with decorative randa stitching in dark blue cotton thread. The huipil is decorated only in a square section of the central panel on the front and back, with hand embroidery in three horizontal bands, divided by stripes of red and yellow. The decoration is of stylised figures and two-headed birds, mainly in red cotton thread, but also with some yellow, blue and green. The neck and armholes have been finished with hand embroidery, in blanket stitch, using red cotton thread. Two extra stripes of hand embroidery in green and red cotton thread outline the neck, in a heavy chain stitch. [FB 05/03/2014]
