Long description
Blouse, huipil, worn for cofradia. The huipil is made from three panels of woven cotton. The side panels are plain white cotton and the centre panel is made from striped cotton in red, green, blue and white. The central panel is woven on both sides with motifs of birds, deer, men and women in the supplementary weft in purple, pink, blue, green, yellow and white cotton yarn and geometric patterns. The huipil is decorated around the neck and shoulders with appliqued purple satin embroidered with yellow and pink chain stitch. The central panel is 545 mm wide. The panels have been stitched together with white cotton. The stitching is becoming unstitched in places. Arm holes have been cut into both side panels. There are some stains on the right shoulder of the garment. [FB 22/10/2013]
