Research and responses

Described by Pitt-Rivers (1883: 463) as "Loop of twisted iron; found 12 feet 6 inches (3-812 m.) deep in Pit 2, June 5th.", and as "a piece of twisted iron resembling the sides of the loop (ibid.: 445). Illustrated as Figure 10, Plate XVIII (ibid.). Note that in the illustration by Pitt-Rivers the loop appears to be more complete indicating that part of the object has broken since excavation; this piece has not been located" [CG [Excav. PR] 24/01/2013][Dan Hicks 20/03/2013]
