The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2013 as: (Top) “Futsu no mitama”, Futsu no mitama is a name of the sacred sword. (Bottom, in red) They seem to be names of gods, but cannot be identified. *Similar human-shaped amulets are in the Chamberlain Collection (1908.82.350 – 354) [MJD 22/02/2013]
