According to Japan guide [http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3004.html] Asakusa Shrine, also known as Sanja-sama, was built during the Edo Period and survived the air raids of 1945. [MJD 19/12/2012]
The inscription on this object was transcribed and translated by Fusa McLynn who volunteered at the Museum in 2013 as: (In red) “Kato yoke”, Ward off fire and thieves. “O-mamori, Kinryu-zan Senso-ji”, Amulet from Senso-ji temple of Kinryu-zan [MJD 25/01/2013]
