Description
Neck piece. [FB 12/09/2012]
Long description
Neck piece. Neck piece made from pieces of indigo dyed textile. The neck piece has been embroidered with geometric designs in red, yellow, orange and white cotton yarn in a variety of stitches including cross stitch, back stitch and diagonal satin stitch. The front panel consists of a rectangle filled with a looped satin stitch surrounded with two rows of diagonal satin stitch. The design continues with applied braids of plain weave white cotton and between these two further rows of diagonal satin stitch and a chevron stitch variation. The central panel rectangle on the back panel two rows of surface crd stitch are worked in yellow and red silk yarn forming frames of raised embroidery around an eight point star design. Other stitches include minute back stitch, cross stitch and diagonal stitches worked in a pattern of triangles. [FB 03/10/2012]
