- Woman's embroidered jacket. The jacket is made from black cotton textile. The front, back and sleeves of the jacket have been embellished with panels of appliquéd cotton embroidered with silk yarn. The front breast of the jacket is made from a blue cotton textile as are the lower sections of both sleeves. The lower part of the jacket on both the front and back has been decorated with bands of wax resist dyed indigo cotton in geometric and curvilinear designs. The squares of appliquéd colourful cotton which adorn the front and back of the jacket have been applied over the wax resist dyed design and are embroidered with floral patterns in silk yarn in satin and chain stitch. These are bordered with lengths of white cotton embroidered with stylised ?butterfly motifs in pink, purple and green silk yarn in satin stitch. The collar of the jacket is embroidered with similar designs in pink, purple and green. The inside of the jacket is lined with indigo dyed cotton textile. The different elements of the jacket have been hand stitched together with blue cotton yarn. [FB 12/09/2012]
