- Amulet, circular metal medallion struck with a figure of the Virgin Mary on one side and Pope Pius IX on the other, with a loop for suspension. The figure of the Virgin Mary is surrounded by the words 'MARIA IMMACULATA' and the figure of the Pope is surrounded by the words 'PIVS IX PONT MAX. AN. XXI'. There medallion appears to have a hinge on the bottom edge, and seems to be comprised of multiple layers of metal encased inside the outer layer. There is a perforation at the top through which the loop for suspension is placed. [RB 24/08/2012]
